Houston Rescue and Restore. Sept 22 & 24

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

vox_hrr-flyer2_front_web

Vox Culture is working with Houston Rescue and Restore Coalition (HRRC) to help bring awareness to the problem of human trafficking. We will be featuring an art exhibit and theater experience following HRRC’s “red flag” bus tour. Save the date and help us spread the word! Human trafficking is modern day slavery and there are more people enslaved today than at any other point in human history.

Sept 22: Sign up for HRRC’s anti-trafficking bus tour. The bus tour will be followed by an event at the Vox Culture gallery. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased in advance. Space is limited. Sign up at contact@houstonrr.org.

Sept 24: The art exhibit and theater will be open for a second night. Come learn, discuss, and express your thoughts. $5 at the door.

HRRC is a non-profit organization dedicated to confronting modern-day slavery by educating the public, training professionals and empowering the community to take action.

countdown to zero poster-xlarge

(UPDATED 7/13)

We have a great opportunity coming up on July 16th @ 7PM. We will be screening “Countdown to Zero” a new movie that is generating a lot of discussion. We’re really excited about this and hope you can come out for this event. Admission is free.

COUNTDOWN TO ZERO is a stunning documentary about the escalating global nuclear arms crisis that premiered at Sundance Film Festival, was shown at TED Conference and recently screened at Cannes Film Festival. Produced by Academy Award winner Lawrence Bender (An Inconvenient Truth, Inglourious Basterds) and written and directed by Lucy Walker (The Devil’s Playground, Blind Sight), COUNTDOWN TO ZERO features an array of important international experts and statesmen and makes a case for worldwide nuclear disarmament.

The film will be followed by a brief discussion with special guest Adam Woods of the Two Futures Project.

If you plan on coming please rsvp at this site. This will help us better prepare.
